Cincinnati Riverbats "Green" Open Tryouts!!!!

The Cincinnati Riverbats "Green" will be conducting 2011 tryouts for 14u at the following times and locations:

Saturday, July 31st 10:00 - 12:00 at Lakota Ridge Junior High.  (Corner of West Chester Rd and Lesourdsville West Chester)

Wednesday, August 11th 6:30 - 8:30 at Pisgah Youth Organization Field #9

The Cincinnati Riverbats "Green" finshed their 2010 season with 14 wins in our last 19 games.  We are looking to build on that success in 2011 by adding a couple of players that have a strong desire to improve their game and compete at a high level.  We are looking for all positions with a strong focus on starting pitching.

The 2011 Cincinnati Riverbats Green will be playing in the Amercian league and will be playing an estimated 40-50 games.  This will include league games, three in-state tournaments and one to two out-of-state tournaments (Within driving distance).  The season cost will be estimated at $300 per player.  Our home field will be West Chester Baseball Complex.

Please contact Shane Barger at 513-260-1873 or sbarger@guidetechnologies.com or www.cincinnatiriverbats.org/barger for more information.  We will also be willing to arrange alternate tryout dates if your son cannot make either of the dates above.

The Mental Side of Baseball

Play the game one pitch at a time - not one game at a time, not one inning at a time

Keep your focus on the task at hand - don't look to the future or to past errors

Visualize what you want to achieve before you go out there and physically do it -  see yourself succeeding

Stay within your own abilities, don't try to do too much

Set a long-term goal for yourself - and then break that down into smaller, daily goals

Have a strong work ethic and be the type of team player that leads by example

Keep things simple, don't overanalyze

Don't think, just react - the best players are the ones that play on instincts

Many things are outside of your control (bad calls, opponents, bad weather) - acknowledge this and don't spend energy worrying about these things

Focus on things you can control - your preparation and your game
