(2014) Midwest Grand Tournament Champions!!
The 8U Riverbats went out to Indiana this weekend and played at the brand new Grand Park complex in the biggest tournament of the year. The Riverbats started off with a stunning loss to the top team in Indiana the Lids Indiana Bulls after going into the last inning up 3 runs. The boys shrugged off the loss and knew they were the best team in the tournament and won the next 5 games against the top 3 teams in Indiana including the Lids Indiana Bulls in the Championship game with a dominating performance by the top pitcher in the region. The boys played 6 games in two days and spent 20 hours at the ball park but still had fun and left it all on the field. I could not be more proud of this team and what they have done together and how much all the families and kids love each other. The Riverbats is not an organization that only cares about winning but learning and having fun creates winners. Thanks Indiana for hosting us. Go BATS!!!
(2014) Summer Slam Tournament Champions!!The Cincinnati Riverbats 8U team took 1st in the 2nd Annual Slummer Slam this past weekend. . The Bats went 4-0 and were red hot with a team batting average over .720 and scored 66 runs while only allowing 4 for the whole tournament. Several boys stepped up and pitched perfect baseball all weekend and was capped off by a 1 hitter in the championship game against a very good Westside Vikings team. The team was down a few very important players and also had a player battling an injury but scraped and clawed with perfect defense to get the win. This team loves to play together and pick each other up whenever another boy is down and it makes coaching these boys that much sweeter. Go BATS!!!
(2014) 21 Gun Salute Tournament Champions!!
The 8U Riverbats had an incredible weekend of baseball playing some of the top teams in the region and outscoring the competition 56-13. The pitching and defense for the Riverbats was outstanding and the hitters came alive when we needed them most to beat one of the top teams in PA the Pittsburgh Outlaws. The team faced SWOL Division rival and the top team in the region the Cincy Flames in the championship game. The Riverbats were led by very strong pitching and timely hitting to take a 9-0 lead. The Cincy Flames battled back, but our pitching and defense kept our lead secure for the 11-7 win. The most amazing thing about this weekend is every single kid played some part in helping us win this tournament and that is what its all about.Way to go BATS!!
(2014) Nations Cincinnati Shootout Tournament Champions!!
The 8U Riverbats went 3-0 in pool play by beating the Lancers 20-2, Lebanon Lynx 15-0 and the Loveland Generals 15-0 earning the #1 seed in the Championship game of the Nations Cincinnati Shooout. Led by very strong pitching and defense the 8u Riverbats won the Championship game by run rule 14-1 over the Cincy Flames. Over the 4 Game span the boys scored 64 runs while only allowing 3 runs for the whole tournament. What a great way to start the season. Go BATS!!
